The Salt, The Milk, The Donkey, The Honey, The Folk Singers, The Vinyl Record is a two-song 7" vinyl album of original music and lyrics by Marshall Burns, with notes from Bill Burns. The physical record is available for sale at Regina Public Library, Central Library, 2311 12th Avenue, Regina, SK or at the SaskBooks online book store.
The Salt, the Milk, the Donkey, the Honey, the Folk Singers, The Vinyl Record is part of an ongoing series of work by Canadian artist Bill Burns about global trade, food production, and advanced industrialism and has been presented at various locations throughout the world. The images, drawings, installations and music of this project continue Bill's interest in connected global patterns of production, trade and sustainability, articulated through the embodied connections he builds between individuals and the more-than-human world.
A live performance of these two original songs took place on July 2, 2022, with the support of the Regina Farmers Market and the Dunlop Art Gallery. The performance included a procession of musicians, goats, farmers, beekeepers and a donkey.
